Set in the quieter eastern end of the Sierra Nevada mountains in southern Spain, at an elevation of 1600m, the trailbase lodge provides a superb location from which to explore an extensive network of trails. Solar powered with water fed from a natural spring our eco lodge provides basic but comfortable accommodation for up to 6 people.

In line with the ride-tribe philosophy, we’re not interested in filling beds or high volume guided package tours. We want to provide a personalised memorable trip for you and your riding buddies. With endless deserted sun-blessed trails on the doorstep it’s the real deal for ride in-ride out accommodation, where days are full of adventure and exploration, and evenings spent under a blanket of stars with a bottle of wine or a nice cold beer.

Also on hand is your guide/driver/teaboy/host/general ‘lodge monkey’ Dave. With qualifications in first aid, bike mechanics and trail cycle leading he’ll be on hand to look after you and make your stay an enjoyable one. Whether you want a fully guided trip or simply picking up from the middle of nowhere after your own epic adventures, he'll have it covered.

Holidays at the lodge can be either fully guided or support only. We welcome groups of 3-6 for a minimum of one week. All trailbase trips are private, i.e. you won't be sharing the lodge with another group.

riding

We have a host of guided rides we can take you on. If we had to label the riding I guess we’d call it ‘mixed cross country’.

This is no trail centre though, this is proper all mountain riding and may consist of hiking through snow, river crossings, super techy sections, dodging wild boar, manic descents, and epic climbs. And if it’s climbing you’re after, either for a training camp or just a plain old work out, then we can tailor a week that’ll have a smile on your face.

Alternatively you can of course just spend your days cruising easy laid back tracks and quiet roads, stopping at beautiful little villages for coffee and cake whenever the feeling takes you.

accommodation

trailbase holidays are ­all about the accommodation. With no-one around as far as the eye can see, it's your own slice of mountain life for as long as you want it.

The lodge is laid out with twin rooms, with a bathroom, shower room, and a fully equipped kitchen. To top it off are the two terraces for summer, and a cosy wood burning stove for snuggling up during the cooler months.

catering

Recognising the more isolated lcoation, we offer a little more in the way of catering when you're staying at the trailbase lodge.

We provide you with a continental style breakfast every morning, and for lunch supply fruit, baguettes and a choice of fillings for you to make up your own snack for the day.

Evening meals operate on a fairly flexible basis with us normally providing 2 basic meals at the lodge and 1 at a high mountain cortijo. All water, beer and wine is included at the lodge.

That leaves 2/3 nights (depending on the duration of your stay) to eat out at local restaurants or sample the traditional tapas served free with each beer down in the village at guests own expense.

Transfer

The trailbase lodge is located above Valor at the Eastern end of the Sierra Nevada. Airport transfer is inclusive from ALMERIA and GRANADA. If you wish a pick up from Malaga there is a surcharge of €23 per person.
